May 27 & 30: Memorial Day Holiday

To all who have served, continue to serve, and have lost their lives... Thank you!

All schools and offices will be closed Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

Many people ask what is Memorial Day? This is the day that we remember the men and women who died in military service for our country. They gave the ultimate sacrifice so everyone can enjoy the freedoms we have without threat.  The United States Military is made up of six armed service branches: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs states that a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day to remember these brave individuals.

Dinwiddie County Public Schools honors those brave men and women (including the millions of family members) past and present who have served for our safety and protection. Thank you for your service!
