Dear Sutherland Families-
We welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year!
My name is Lloyd Page, and I am honored to serve as the new principal of Sutherland Elementary School. As someone who is new to both Sutherland and Dinwiddie County Public Schools, I am beyond excited to become part of this amazing community. From everything I've already experienced, it's easy to see that Sutherland is a special place filled with caring students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and a community that truly values education. I look forward to getting to know each of you in the months ahead and building relationships that will help make this an incredible school year.
I am extremely lucky to work alongside Mrs. Tammy Bartlett, our Assistant Principal. Mrs. Bartlett has proudly served Dinwiddie County Public Schools in a variety of roles since 2015, including the last several years here at Sutherland. Her experience, knowledge of our school, and commitment to our students and families make her an invaluable part of our team. I am grateful to have her partnership as we begin this school year together.
"Building, Growing, and Learning" is our theme this year. These three words capture what we hope every child experiences at Sutherland each day. We will build strong relationships and a positive school culture where every child feels valued. We will grow academically, socially, and emotionally by challenging ourselves to be our very best. Together, we will create meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and prepare every child for a bright future.
As we start our journey together, we want every family to know that you are an important part of our school community. When schools and families work together, our students thrive. Your partnership and support will make a tremendous difference. First and foremost, attendance matters. It is important that students are here and on time, each and every day. Please stay connected, attend school events, communicate with your child's teacher, and become involved in the many opportunities throughout the year.
In closing, thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. It is a privilege to be part of their educational journey, and I am excited to see all that we will accomplish together. I cannot wait to meet each of you and welcome our students back to school.
Here's to a wonderful year of building, growing, and learning… because at Sutherland Elementary, every piece matters!
